Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Portland Trail Blazers guard Elliot
Williams will have surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon at an
unknown future date.
The 23-year-old sustained the injury during voluntary workouts at the Blazers'
practice facility on Tuesday.
It's yet another setback in the brief, but frustrating career for the Memphis
native.
Williams was forced to miss the 2010-11 season after undergoing surgery to fix
a dislocated right kneecap. He submitted to a second procedure to correct
instability in his left patella tendon, then missed the end portion of the
shortened schedule last season thanks to a dislocated shoulder sustained in
early March.
The 6-foot-5, 183-pounder was the 22nd overall selection in the 2010 NBA
Draft by the Blazers.
