ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA) -- Earlier on Wednesday, the fabulous D.C. Sports Bog found a quote from the New York Post via Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora, regarding Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Umenyiora seems to be a tad bit upset with RGIII's celebrity status without the Redskin ever stepping foot on the field.

"Who is this RGII guy you guys keep talking about,"said Umenyiora. "You talking about Bob Griffin? You guys are giving him a cool nickname already and everything. When he does anything in the NFL we're gonna call him RG3. Right now, he's Bob Griffin."

On Wednesday, Griffin responded to the first ever NFL player to call him out.

"That's Osi for you. I mean, one of coaches at Baylor called me Bob. Nobody really calls me Bob, but if that's what he wants to call me, that's fine," Griffin told reporters outside at Redskins Park. "He doesn't have to call me RGIII at all."

Judging from the wording, Griffin remained his usual political self, saying all the right things. But I've re-listened to the clip five different times, and Griffin's tone sounded a bit perturbed that Umenyiora would attack him already.

The Giants host the Redskins on October 21st. I'll bet my small bank account that the war of words will escalate even further, especially since the defending Super Bowl champions were defeated twice by the lowly 'Skins.
