WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Some of you hardcore Nats fans are aware of the nonsense Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen pulled Sunday regarding pine tar and Bryce Harper's bat.
If you missed it, catch this outstanding series of photos from the Nats Enquirer blog.
Instead of turning this situation into a beef with Guillen, the Nationals decided to have a little fun it.
According to MLB.com, the Nationals first basemen Adam LaRoche had Bryce Harper unknowingly autograph a bat, which then LaRoche dipped from head-to-toe in pine tar. LaRoche added "To my hero, Ozzie, love you." The bat was then shipped to Guillen.
"It was funny," Guillen told MLB.com. "I've got a few friends on their side. All
those guys were making fun of me. I found out later they made the kid
sign the bat."
This flare up between the Marlins and Nats had potential to blow up faster than Washington's feud with the Tampa Rays back in late June. Credit LaRoche for this hilarious gesture and Harper for never letting the media trip him up.
