WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Did I miss the memo? Is it ignite your rivalry day at Nationals Park?

The Wizards trade bogged me down inside the WUSA-9 station today, and unfortunately I missed one of the more memorable press conferences in recent MLB history.

While I respect Joe Maddon's resume (AL manager of the year in 2008 and 2011, and World Series runner-up in 2008), Johnson's pedigree trumps the tweeting thick glasses Tampa skipper.

Johnson's won a World Series in 1986, and has now produced as manager in three decades with five different teams -- Mets, Reds, Orioles, Dodgers and now the Nats -- compiling .500 records in 12 of his 13 seasons as manager. Maddon has been the beneficiary of brilliant scouting and top-notch draft picks after years of horrid baseball in Tampa.

The reason Davey bounced around so much? He's his own agent, and was often at odds with ownership. He's always gotten the most out of his players.
