WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- It might be time for the Washington Nationals organization to hire a special spelling liaison.
The Potomac Nationals invited Reed Doughty to throw out the first pitch earlier this week. The team's attempt to honor the Washington Redskins safety came up a wee bit short. Not only was his name spelled wrong, his number is incorrect. Doughty has been rocking 37 since he was drafted in 2006.
I overlooked this when it happened on Tuesday, but the picture above is too hilarious not to post.
Doughty tweeted to the SB Nation blog @HogsHaven the following: "And they they didn't have a 37 jersey so you think they gave me a ceremonial #1. Nope, 38. It was a good night."
