WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- While some athletes were busy getting DUI's this weekend, the Capitals' John Carlson was preoccupied helping his community.

Per CapitalsOutsider.com, Carlson joined over 100 Caps outside Fort Dupont Ice Arena, in a renovations project which included landscaping, painting and equipment inventory.

The facility had been shut down for some time, but with the help of Carlson and fans, the rink is scheduled to reopen on July 9th.

The 22-year-old Carlson is a restricted free agent this offseason, and should receive a hefty payday.
