Some Clarksburg, MD Residents Will Lose Water Monday Night

Laurel, MD (WSSC/WUSA)-- Some customers in Clarksburg, Maryland will lose water Monday, November 23, 2008 beginning at 8pm.

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) will be shutting down a 16-inch water main, located at 22416 Frederick Road in Clarksburg, MD, for repairs.

The work is scheduled to be done tonight Monday, November 23 beginning at 8pm and is expected to be continue until 2am Tuesday morning.

 

According to the WSSC the main was damaged by a contractor on Friday of last week and currently has a temporary repair.

 

The WSSC advises customers to do the following after a water main is repaired:
 

 

  • When water is restored, flush your COLD water lines.

 

  • Do NOT flush your HOT water lines.

 

  • Start with highest faucet in your home/business.

 

  • Turn on all cold water taps for FIVE minutes.

 

  • Move from your highest floor to your lowest.

 

  • After five minutes, turn off taps in reverse order.

 

  • Single-lever faucet?  Set it to run cold water.

 

  • Flush your refrigerator's water lines.  Consult your owner's manual for directions

  • If your water is discolored after the water is restored, do NOT use the water.  It is safe to drink, however, sediment and mineral deposits can alter taste and stain washed clothes.
