LARGO, Md. (WUSA) -- At Hannah's Place in Largo, Maryland, women want to look good from head to toe.
"I've been trying through my life to lose weight," says one client.
Hair isn't the only thing that gets a transformation.
Body Magic, a modern day girdle, has made true believers out of women in this salon and across the country. The women say they are losing inches thanks to the $140 product.
"It just shrunk the waistline. It's hard to explain." says Darlene Terrell.
Imagine an undergarment that fits like a glove, compresses your body and helps you lose 2 to 3 dress sizes in minutes.
Body Magic team leader Mike Chase describes it this way.
"This product does the work. You don't have to go through any diet. There's no surgery, no pills, no exercise."
And, here's how it's different from what you already have in the drawer. These women say over time the results are permanent. Four of them showed us their bodies before the magic makeover.
"The magic is basically arrived through thermogenesis, lipo transportation," says Chase.
The claim is that the body's metabolism is raised by wearing the Body Magic, and the garment literally transports fat from one part of your body to another.
"Listen, if this thing really transported fat from one part of the body to another, I would have it on," says Dr. Robynne Chutkan, gastroenterologist and director of the Digestive Center for Women.
Dr. Chutkan says if the girdle compresses the abdomen, there's a different reason why you are losing weight.
"It's simply you have a tight ace bandage typed garment wrapped around your abdomen, so you don't feel you're eating as much," says Chutkan.
Back at the Body Magic gathering, these devotees are convinced the product works. Aminata Sheriff lost 4 inches off her waist.
"I'm really happy to get to this size in less than 2 minutes!"
Darlene Terrell has worn her garment since July. She says she's lost 10 inches from her hips and four inches from her waist.
"When I'm speaking to someone about it, I can actually say it really works."
