ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) -- The man federal prosecutors called the ringleader of a nationwide identity theft ring has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison.
Fifty-two-year-old Clyde Austin Gray Jr. of Waldorf, Md. was also ordered on Friday to pay more than $1.4 million in restitution.
According to his plea agreement, Gray paid conspirators to steal personal identification and bank account information, and then used the information to make counterfeit driver's licenses and military identification cards.
Among the victims was Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's wife.
