DALE CITY, Va. (WUSA) -- Prince William County Police are investigating the sexual assault Saturday night of two teenage girls who were apparently abducted at gunpoint as they and a 16-year-old friend were returning from Halloween Night trick or treating.

The three girls were walking near Glendale Plaza near the intersection of Dale Boulevard and Gerry Lane in Dale City.

"They were approached by an armed man who forced them to go into the rear of the plaza in the wooded area.

Once they were in the rear of the plaza, they were ordered to lie down, and that's where the sexual assaut of two of the three girls, occurred," said Officer Erika Hernandez of the county police department.

"We are looking for an adult black male. He was wearing a grey shirt or sweatshirt, blue jeans, and sneakers. He had his face covered with a mask or, possibly, the hoodie from his sweatshirt," Hernandez told 9NEWS NOW.

Shopping at the plaza on Monday, Sheree Yates said she is concerned.

"I'm raising three girls myself, five, seven, and nine, so it does make me a little leery. I don't go anywhere by myself and I don't let my kids travel too far without me knowing, or unless they are with someone. I'm trying to be as cautious as I can," she said.

Police say the incident is an isolated one, not related to any other sexual assaults in the area.
