WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- 9NEWS NOW digital correspondent Bruce Johnson has learned that DC councilman Marion Barry is back in the hospital.
A source says the former DC mayor was re-admitted to Howard University Hospital Monday without any word from his office to the media or his constituents. Barry was released from the hospital last Friday following a kidney transplant proceedure he underwent two weeks ago.
A source tells 9NEWS NOW doctors saw Marion Barry on Monday and saw something they didn't like regarding Barry's recovery from the kidney transplant. He was admitted to the hospital immediately. Natalie Williams, a spokesperson for Councilman Barry, says he is expected to remain at the hospital at least through the end of the week.
Barry, who is about to turn 73 years-old, was scheduled to appear at a DC Council legislative session Tuesday.
