Rocker Moms

(WUSA) -- Patrice Moerman traded in her comfortable suburban life in Bethesda to live loud for a change. Seven years ago, she decided it was time for a change. So, she traded her paint brush for a guitar pick and followed a dream.

Moerman always wanted to play guitar and piano. But she was too shy, and she says too inhibited, to pursue her passion full time. That all changed with a load of laundry and a song.

Dozens more would follow. And soon this mother of two was recording her words, playing in a band, and teaching lessons to others.

She's a rocker mom, who still takes care of home. And this Mother's Day will be a day on for her. Moerman and other Mom bands will play in the Mamapalooza festival in Silver Spring. The event encourages women to turn up the volume on their dreams.

You can see the Moms "rock on" this Saturday -- at the Austin Grill in Silver Spring.
