(USA Today) -- Clinton Portis thinks Maryland should be taken seriously, so maybe everyone else should, too.
The Terrapins are 4-0 and have a date with No. 8 Florida State in Tallahassee this weekend. They most recently beat West Virginia 37-0 and then the Mountaineers turned around and beat a then-No. 11 Oklahoma State last weekend.
Portis, who went to Miami and does a feature for the ACC Digital Network, laid out three reasons why Maryland is legitimate.
1. The wide receiver duo of Stefon Diggs and Deon Long.
2. Maryland has the No. 6 defense in the country.
3. Quarterback C.J. Brown is healthy and "lightening quick."
Maryland cracked the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time in the Randy Edsall era this week and is receiving votes in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. So point is, the Terps are getting some love and we'll find out this weekend if it's deserved.
Even FSU alum Darnell Dockett, who grew up 20 minutes north of Maryland's campus in Burtonsville, Md., is a little worried about this weekend's game.
