WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Woodbridge woman is being held without bond after police say she tried to rob a bank employee on Sunday.
According to police, an employee at the TD Bank at 13630 Foulger Sq in Woodbridge reported that she was involved in a verbal altercation with a customer over an issue with a deposit. She told police that after the altercation she went to a nearby ATM to empty the night deposits. That's when the customer went up to the employee and grabbed a stack of checks she had removed from the ATM, according to police.
Police say the employee was able to get the checks back and another customer was able to get the customer to leave the bank.
The customer who grabbed the checks was later identified as 28-year-old Leaie Shantae Smith. She was arrested without further incident Monday, say police.
Smith is charged with robbery and is being held without bond, say police. She has a court date set for Oct. 7.
