MECHANICSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Officials say they responded to a report of a burglary at the Apple Basket Store on Friday, March 15.
Police say they determined that someone had broken into the store at night and removed jewelry from a display case within the store.
According to officials, the stolen jewelry was soon pawned at various pawn shops in White Plains, Forestville, and Annapolis, Md. by a 26-year-old from California, Md.
Police say on Thursday, John W. Sprenger was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Theft $10,000 - $100,000 and Malicious Destruction of Property Under $500.
Sprenger was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being held on $25,000 bond, police said.
