FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Dept. are trying to figure out what caused a home to go up in flames.
On Tuesday, at about 6:35 p.m. firefighters responded to the single-family home fire at 14927 Lee Highway in the West Centreville area.
The rear and roof of the home was engulfed in heavy smoke and fire. Firefighters tried to extinguish the fire from the interior and exterior of the home but had to retract when a portion of the roof collapsed.
It took firefighters nearly 50 minutes to bring the fire under control. The home is a total loss. No injuries were reported.
