SUITLAND, Md. (WUSA) -  A man walking on Silver Hill Road was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision on Saturday, according to police.

On September 29, around 8:30 p.m., police officers responded to the intersection of Silver Hill Road at Suitland Road for a call of a person lying in the roadway. Officers found Michael Eugene White, 55, injured from being hit by a car. White was pronounced dead on scene.

Police officials say that White, of no fixed address, was walking along the northbound shoulder of Silver Hill Road when he walked into the road in front of the striking vehicle. The vehicle left the scene without stopping or offering assistance.

The car, described as a white Chevy Impala, was last seen heading northbound on Silver Hill Road. The car may have front-end damage.

Police are seeking information about the car,and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or been in the area at the time of the collision.
