FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - Fairfax County is doing away with a zoning rule that limits electronic signs to two messages a day.

A federal judge has signed off an order that says the county has agreed to abolish the limit and undertake a review of its rules related to lighted signs.

The order comes after the Church of the Good Shepherd in Vienna received a letter from a zoning investigator saying he had observed three messages on the church's new electronic sign in a 24-hour period.

The church then filed a lawsuit against the county over the limit, saying it violated its First Amendment right to free speech.

The county had stood by the sign limit, but eventually backed down.
