Local Sikh Community Reacts To Mass Shootings

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) - The local Sikh community is responding to the mass shootings with prayer vigils and reminders that they have been targeted before.
The local hurt, concern and even fear cannot be overstated when it comes to reaction to the carnage at the Sikh Temple outside Milwaukee this past weekend.

At the Sikh Temple on Old Columbia Pike, a significant group of agreed to meet with 9News Now Monday afternoon to discuss the apparent assault by one man that left six innocent people dead and a police officer critically wounded.

Miles away in the District's Adams Morgan neighborhood, Indian Americans are outraged at the violence as well.

Prayer vigils are planned for this Wednesday and Friday at area Sikh temples. Everyone is welcomed. and some local police departments have said they'll be keeping closer watch on the temples in this area in case of would-be copycat killers.
