WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA)-- The United States Park Police have released a sketch of the suspect in a sexual assault that took place in the Georgetown Waterfront area July 7.
Investigators say a woman was approached by the suspect in the area of M Street and 31 Street, N.W., as he offered to help her find her friends.
She was led onto the C&O Canal just off 31st Street, and was pushed into the bushes, then sexually assaulted. The victim was able to get away from the suspect.
The suspect is described as an slightly overweight white male in his late 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was last seen on 31st Street, N.W., wearing a polo shirt with white and blue horizontal stripes and shorts.
