CENTREVILLE, Md. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed a low-intensity tornado touched down last week in Queen Anne's County.

The Star-Democrat of Easton reports that the twister hit Friday evening northeast of Centreville. The National Weather Service reported Sunday that at least nine tornadoes had been confirmed across Maryland during a powerful storm system.

Lt. Ed Stoner of the county emergency management agency says no injuries have been reported, but the tornado did damage several buildings. He estimates the cost of damage at about $100,000.

The tornado is believed to have traveled about five miles and lasted for about five minutes.
