MCLEAN, Va. (WUSA) -- Peggy Fox emceed the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce Women's Leadership Forum on Monday. She also tweeted about the event. You can see photos she tweeted above.
Caroline Miller, an exert in positive psychology and a speaker at the event, addressed the topic of being successful and happy. She said that some women aren't happy because they have forgotten about their own goals or set those goals too low. In fact, the top regret of people who are dying is that they did not live their own life. According to Miller, the happiest people are proactive.
An example of a woman who took a big risk was author J.K. Rowling. Miller told the forum audience that Rowling took a risk by writing about a boy (Harry Potter).
Miller also talked about Dara Torres. Miller stressed that women need strong supporters to reach their goals. She said that Torres is a great example of a goal-setter who has circle of supporters. You always have to know who is by your side, said Miller, who also suggested having three strong friends around you to help meet your goals.
