WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A 27-year-old woman arrested in relation to a shooting at an IHOP restaurant in NW DC had her case continued on Thursday.
LaShawn Yvonnie Carson had a preliminary hearing set for Wednesday and her case was continued until April. She is reportedly having a difficult pregnancy, and her attorney asked for more time.
Carson was arrested for aggravated assault while armed for shooting a gay man at the restaurant at 14th and Irving streets NW on March 11. The man was left critically wounded, but is expected to be okay.

Police believed there was an argument that involved anti-gay epithets and they believe Carson was motivated by anti-gay bias in the shooting.
