BURKE, VA (WUSA)--A 70 ft. tall tree fell through the roof of a Virginia home pinning an adult woman to the floor.
Captain Will Bailey with Fairfax Fire Department tells 9NEWS that the tree fell down around 1a.m. Sunday, on a house located on the 5000 block of Lavery Court in Burke, Virginia.
Captain Biley said that the tree tore through the roof of the bedroom pinning the woman to the floor and also trapping an adult male. It took firefighters and technical rescue personnel almost two hours to free the couple due to the precarious condition of the structure.
The woman was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the male was unhurt.
Fire officials say they believe the strong winds brought the tree down and that the impact moved the house slightly from its foundation.
Total damage is still being assessed but the house has been condemned.
