Vigil Turns Deadly With One Man Shot
NEW CARROLLTON, Md. (WUSA) - A man was shot at a Friday night vigil for a local teenager who was shot and killed earlier this week in New Carrollton, according to Prince George's County Police. The shooting took place in the 5200 block of 85th Avenue.
9News Now's Ken Molestina reports that the shooting took place at a vigil for Chris Smith, the 16-year-old from Landover who was shot and killed on Monday.
During the vigil, someone ran into the crowd and shot one adult male, who is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The crowd, which included a number of teenagers, scattered, running toward the nearby shopping plaza where police stopped them to conduct interviews.
The suspect is not in police custody and there is no known motive for the shooting.
