ROCKVILLE, Md., -  Police have charged a Silver Spring man for his role in the armed robbery of a Rockville woman and her son as they unloaded groceries in front of their home on Dec. 11.

The suspect, Omiesam Nathaniel Ockiya, 19 , of the 13200 block of Black Walnut Court, was charged with one count of armed robbery, and two counts each of first-degree assault, credit card offenses and conspiracy.

Ockiya was in District Court for a bond review hearing on Thursday and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

Rockville Police are still searching for two more men involved in the incident.

Officers responded just after 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 to a report of a woman and her son robbed at gunpoint while unloading groceries in front of their home in the 200 block of Cork Tree Lane. When officers arrived, the victim reported that she and her 17-year-old son were approached by three men. The woman said that two of the subjects asked her for her bag and she declined, thinking they were offering to help carry the groceries.

The third man then grabbed the victim's purse and the two struggled. During the struggle, one of the three suspects pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her son. The son told his mother to give the suspects the purse and she did. The three suspects fled on foot.

Later that night, the suspects used credit cards that were in the stolen purse at a restaurant on Montgomery Village Avenue. The same suspects later committed another armed robbery at 10:30 p.m. in College Park.

Anyone who may have information about the incident and/or suspects is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Unit at 240-314-8938.
