LEXINGTON PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- There's a twist in a robbery case from December in St. Mary's County.

St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office says an employee who appeared to be a victim during a robbery at a Family Dollar in Lexington Park on Dec. 24, 2011, may have actually coordinated the robbery.

Officials say that Rachel E. Bowles said that a man entered the store, assaulted a clerk and stole cash, but the Bureau of Criminal Investigations found that Bowles coordinated the robbery to steal store money for herself.

Bowles was arrested on Sunday and charged with theft more than $1,000 but less than $10,000 and false statement to a police officer.

She was released on personal recognizance.
