TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (WUSA) -- A violent home invasion in Temple Hills on Friday morning, in which a woman was sexually assaulted twice and her family members tied up, is possibly connected to recent home invasion cases in Montgomery County, police said.

It happened at around 6:30 a.m. on the 2500 block of Berkley Street, police said.
"When the officers arrived, they discovered that a female victim was sexually assaulted at around 6:30 a.m after a male suspect an forced his way into the victim's home armed with a gun. The suspect fled the scene in the victim's vehicle. The vehicle is described as a white four door 2008 Honda Civic bearing Maryland tags 6AE9788," police said in a news release.
The victim had been outside of her home, warming up her vehicle and went back inside, police said. The suspect followed her inside, showed a weapon and sexually assaulted her twice after tying up five family members using black plastic ties. He began to ransack the home, taking unspecified items.
At the time of the invasion, family members from outside, concerned about a missed meeting, began calling the home. One of the bound family members inside the home was able to answer the call, but the victim took the phone, said "Don't call here again, we're in trouble, " and hung up. At that point, the suspect confiscated all of the family members' phones, and continued ransacking the home.
One of the outside family members went to a nearby neighbor's home, saying "We think there's trouble over there." The neighbor walked up to the home and knocked at the door. The door was opened and the victim, holding her child, appeared. When the neighbor asked if everything was okay, the victim said yes, everything's fine, but the neighbor, who knows the victim, was skeptical.
The victim surreptitiously pointed toward the door, and the neighbor glimpsed the suspect. When the neighbor said he would call the police, the suspect showed himself, brandishing the gun at the neighbor, and said to the victim,"If anybody calls the police, I'm gonna shoot your daughter."
The neighbor backed away and returned to his home to call police. A family member arrived at that time, approaching the victim's home to look into the window. The family member spotted the victim's white 2008 Honda racing up the street. At that point the victim came rushing to the neighbor's home and got on the phone to notify police about what happened.
Police found the victim's car on Friday night and it is being processed for fingerprints.
The police are seeking a black male, 25-30, 170 lbs., with a chipped tooth, a description similar to the suspect in the Montgomery County cases.
