WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a major recall for 15 million APC SurgeArrest surge protectors.
The call back for the electric strip comes after 700 reports that it can overheat, melt and cause a fire.
The damage to one home totaled more than $900,000 dollars.
Thirteen people have suffered burns or smoke inhalation in incidents involving the APC SurgeArrest surge protectors.
