BETHESDA, Md., (WUSA) -- The Memorial holiday weekend usually marks the opening of public pools in many communities.
But that may not happen at thousands of pools across the country.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued two seperate recall announcements for more than a million pool and spa drain covers because they could pose a possible entrapment hazard to swimmers.

The CPSC has advised any public pool that uses the affected covers to remain closed until it is brought into compliance with the law.
