D.C police are investigating a fatal stabbing Sunday morning in Southeast. Sergeant Joe Gentile says authorities were called to an apartment on the 12-hundred block of Maple View Place about 1:20 Sunday morning for the report of an assault. Investigators arriving on the scene found 74-year-old Clarence Copeland suffering from a stab wound to the chest. Copeland was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
