WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Who knew what and when? Two different stories are emerging about the IRS scandal.
Two different articles: one from the Wall Street Journal and a second article from the New York Times suggest the White House knew about the IRS scandal a month before it leaked. A top White House advisor says, however, the adminstration learned of the scandal when the rest of us did.
According to some news reports, someone in the White House may have known the Inspector General was investigating the Internal Revenue Service weeks before the President himself says he found out.
The agency is accused of unfairly targeting of conservative political groups and Republicans say their investigation is just beginning.
There are Senate hearings set for Tuesday.
