(USA Today) -- President Obama's campaign team is claiming one victory this debate night: number of watch parties.
Obama aides say they are sponsoring more than 4,000 watch parties across the country for tonight's contest between the president and Mitt Romney.
Romney's campaign says it will have 336 watch party events in a dozen battleground states, including Ohio, Florida, Virginia and Colorado.
How many actual people this adds up to for each side is anybody's guess.
Said Romney spokeswoman Sarah Pompei: "We are thrilled at the strong support across the battleground states for Gov. Romney."
Obama campaign spokesman Adam Fetcher said: "In a close election, our grass-roots organization will make the difference, and that's why our supporters are using the debate to bring their neighbors together."
