Woman killed in crash on I-70

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving one car on I-70 Thursday afternoon.

Forty-year-old Helen Rose of Virginia was flown to Meritus Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

Investigation revealed that Rose was distracted and did not see that traffic had stopped on eastbound I-70 at the 21 mile-marker.

Police say she swerved onto the right shoulder, entered the grass and traveled up an embankment where her car struck a log and a small tree. The car rolled several times and Rose was ejected from the car.

I-70 was closed for approximately 2 and a half hours during the investigation.
