Woman, husband charged with stealing money from PTO

LORTON, Va. (WUSA9) -- A parent teacher organization president and her husband are accused of stealing money from the PTO's general fund after an investigation, according to Fairfax County police on Thursday.

According to police, 39-year-old Amy King and her husband, 40-year-old Jermaine King, of Lorton were investigated after an employee at Ft. Belvoir Elementary School noticed that checks were bouncing on April 4.

Police tell us that the "allegedly stolen monies were part of the PTO's general fund, raised by school fundraisers and PTO membership fees."

Amy King was charged with embezzlement on May 13, say police. Jermaine King was charged with grand larceny on May 8.
