WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A woman is accused of choking an 11-year-old girl with a belt during an argument on Wednesday morning.
Prince William County police say 37-year-old Demetria Michelle Bowles of Woodbridge got into a verbal altercation with the girl at a home in Woodbridge at approximately 1:30 a.m. Bowles began choking the girl with a belt, according to police.
Police say that the belt broke and the girl ran to a bedroom and told a family member about the incident. That family member then contacted police.
Police say that the girl suffered minor injuries.
Bowles was taken into custody and later charged with strangulation, according to police. She is being held without bond.
