LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA) - If you were going to get your driver's test in in Leesburg today, it will have to be postponed. Friday morning an Ashburn woman drove her car right into the Department of Motor Vehicles building on Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg, and did some damage to the building, leaving the DMV office closed for the day.
Leesburg Police spokesman Chris Jones tells 9 NEWS NOW that a woman operating the car was parked by the DMV and apparently
pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal by accident. Her car lunged forward, and crashed into the side of the building, penetrating two storage room doors, and doing some damage
to the brick work. The car actually entered into the building up to its windshield, but fortunately the woman inside the car was not injured.
Leesburg police, and Loudoun county fire and rescue units responded, and a Loudoun county building inspector was also called to examine the building and make sure its structurally sound. As a precaution, the DMV office was closed for the day.
