George Golder Phillips of Culpeper, Va. Sentenced To Over 50 Years For Armed Robberies, Carjacking

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA) - George Golder Phillips II, 33, was sentenced to over 50 years for committing a slew of armed robberies and kidnapping and carjacking a woman, announced Neil H. MacBride, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

In 2008 through 2009, Phillips robbed over $87,000 dollars from six financial businesses in Virginia, according to court records. On Sept. 17, 2009, Phillips admitted to approaching a woman in Prince William County in Va. and forced her into a car after brandishing a gun. The victim was blindfolded in the passenger seat, while Phillips drove from Virginia to Maryland. He then crashed into another car and fled the scene on foot.

Phillips of Culpeper, Va., is already serving time for other offenses including: 20 years for attempted murder and malicious wounding of two sheriff's deputies in Fauquier County, Va. and 40 years for a murder in Dinwiddie County, Va. He is to serve all his sentences consecutively.
