FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- A Florida man is charged with brandishing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of assault, obstruction of justice and drunk in public after an incident in Fairfax, Va. on Sunday morning.

Fairfax police officials say that an officer on off-duty security detail was notified of a fight involving some men at the Old Town Village parking garage. When he arrived, he saw a man pointing a handgun at two other men. The officer started to approach the man with the gun. The man with the gun fled and dropped the handgun into a trash can, say police.

The officer then took the suspect, 23-year-old Griffin Thompson, into custody. He has been ordered held without bond.
