CULPEPER, Va. (WUSA) -- Dominique Jamaal Newsome, 22, faces several charges for gun-wielding in the parking lot on a 7-Eleven.

The incident took place Wednesday at about 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven located on the 800 block of North Main Street when Culpeper police responded to a disturbance.

According to police reports, a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman parked in their 2011 Dodge Durango rental and went inside the store to make a purchase. On their way out, they were approached by Newsome.

Newsome allegedly asked the man if he knew where a particular person was. According to police the person in question was the man's friend.

When the 24 year-old said he didn't know, Newsome allegedly kicked the driver's SUV door, causing a dent. He then allegedly pulled a handgun from his waistband and broke the driver's side window. The couple was able to get in their vehicle and drive away safely.

Culpeper County Sheriff's Deputies searched for Newsome but couldn't locate him.

Hours later, Newsome surrendered at the town police station.
