ANNANDALE, Va. (WUSA) -- A section of Braddock Road in Annandale will be closed through the Wednesday morning rush hour due to a transformer explosion that brought down a power pole and wires in the roadway Tuesday evening.
Fairfax County Police will direct traffic around the closure this morning, which stretches between Ravensworth Road and Backlick Road.
Le-Ha Anderson, spokeswoman for Dominion Virginia Power, says crews are almost finished replacing the power pole. Right now approximately 66 customers are without power in the area, but their service should be restored by 7:30 a.m.
Bud Walker with Fairfax County Police says that due to the pole and wires, it may take 2 to 4 hours to reopen Ravensworth Rd to Backlick Rd.
Drivers should avoid using Braddock Road or use Little River Turnpike as a detour.
