STERLING, Va. (WUSA) - An adult woman was stabbed in the parking lot of the Cedar Lake Plaza shopping center in Sterling around 7:30 on Monday night, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's office.
The suspect, Thomas E. West of Ashburn, is charged with aggravated malicious assault in the incident and is being held without bond.
A lookout was put out on the suspect vehicle. A deputy saw the vehicle and made a traffic stop about an hour after the incident. He was taken into custody.
The 36-year-old woman suffered serious life threatening injuries and was taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital. She remains in the hospital in serious condition.
It's not clear what the relationship is between the victim and her attacker but it is a domestic incident.
