BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, Va. (WUSA) -- Two people were seriously injured when a Dodge Viper struck a pole on Leesburg Pike early Friday morning.
Police tell 9 NEWS NOW the vehicle struck a power pole bringing down wires on Leesburg Pike near the intersection of Charles Street around 2:45 a.m. Two people were extricated from the vehicle and transported with possible life-threatening injuries to Fairfax Hospital. Fairfax County Police spokesperson Bud Walker told us around 9:15 a.m. that their injuries are now considered non-life threatening.
A crash reconstruction team is on the scene.
Two of the westbound lanes of Leesburg Pike were shut down at Charles Street. Traffic was re-routed through the parking lot of a nearby strip mall. Walker told us that as of 9:12 a.m. one lane of westbound Route 7/Leesburg Pike had reopened and all of eastbound Rt. 7 is open.
