Suspect arrested for sexual assault outside of Wheaton Metro Station

WHEATON , Md . ( WUSA9 ) -- An arrest has been made after a sexual assault happened outside of the Wheaton Metro Station.

Metro Transit Police say Joshua Lamont Smith, 23, was arrested for a sexual assault outside of the Wheaton Metro Station.

At approximately 10 p.m. Friday, September 11 officers approached Smith, who escaped in the Metro Station and ran down into a tunnel, according to officials.

Metro services between Glenmont and Forest Glen were temporarily suspended for a police investigation.

Police say Smith has been charged with fourth degree sexual assault, second degree assault and trespassing in Montgomery County.
