Jeffrey Thompson close to reaching plea agreement

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- There have been some new developments in the case against Jeffrey Thompson. He is the man considered to be the mastermind of Mayor Vincent Gray's 2010 shadow campaign.

The Washington Post reports that Thompson is close to reaching a plea agreement with Federal Prosecutors.

Back in January, our Bruce Johnson was the first to report that prosecutors were prepared to indict Thompson. At the time, sources told Johnson that Thompson's attorneys argued for misdemeanor charges, while the US Attorney pressed for felonies.
