Cities of Frederick, Takoma Park and Fairfax to hold elections & caucus September 12

Voters in the Maryland cities of Frederick and Takoma Park, plus the City of Fairfax, Virginia get to have their voices heard in municipal elections and a nominating caucus on September 12th.

Jennifer E. Passey: She works for Girls on the Run of NOVA and is an issue advocacy specialist. She served on the city's Planning Commission (2011-2014) and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (2012-2014).

Karen L. Habitzreuther:  She served in the U.S. Army for 28 years. After leaving the military she got her doctorate in veterinary medicine and is now working toward a master's in public health.

Shelley Aloi (R):  She is a former Frederick City alderman, candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Maryland in 2014, and was a candidate for Mayor in 2013. She has also worked as a math and science teacher and she worked at Ft. Detrick's NCI-FCRF performing AIDS and cancer research.

Randy McClement (R-Incumbent):  He has been Mayor since 2009 and is seeking a third term.  He previously co-owned The Market Bagel & Deli on South Market Street and served as past president of the Tourism Council of Frederick County.

Jennifer Dougherty (D): She's a restaurant owner and real estate agent.  She was also Frederick's first female mayor when she was elected in 2001. She lost a re-election bid in 2005.

Michael C. O'Connor (D): He has been a Frederick City Alderman since 2009.  He is the business manager at Saint Katherine Drexel Roman Catholic Congregation in Frederick.  He spent almost 20 years in local media as a reporter, news director, talk show host, and producer.

City of Takoma Park, Maryland Caucus Information
 
According to Jessie Carpenter, the City Clerk of Takoma Park, There is no voting on September 12. "Individuals will be nominated at the caucus. Any name placed in nomination requires only a second to that nomination. All those nominated (and whose nomination is duly seconded) will have their names placed on the ballot for the November 7 election (unless they decline the nomination or are not eligible for the office).

Cindy Dyballa: She is a long-time federal employee who runs her own consulting practice.  She also volunteers with Casa de Maryland and has served on the Takoma Park Committee on the Environment. 
 
Joe Edgell: he is an attorney and has served as a military prosecutor and defense counsel, and now serves as the Senior Vice President for the National Treasury Employees Union.
