Catania files petitions for DC mayoral race

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- At 10 a.m. Monday, D.C. council member David Catania filed nominating petitions to qualify for the November 4th ballot for Mayor of the District of Columbia.

Catania will run in the general election as an independent. He will face the Democratic nominee, fellow council member Muriel Bowser.

Former council member Carol Schwartz has also announced her candidacy.
