Carol Schwartz turns in signatures for mayoral race

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Carol Schwartz has filed nominating petitions to qualify for a spot on the November 4th ballot.

According to her campaign, Schwartz turned in more than 6,500 signatures to the D.C. Board of Elections at noon on Wednesday.

The signatures secure Schwartz a place on the ballot as an Independent candidate for Mayor.

Schwartz will face Democratic nominee Councilmember Muriel Bowser and Independent candidate Councilmember David Catania in the election.
