Police: Man drew 'sawed off' shotgun on neighbor

DUMFRIES, Va. (WUSA9) -- On Tuesday afternoon, a convicted felon threatened his neighbor with a "sawed off" shotgun over a package missing from his property, say Prince William County Police.

According to police, 24-year-old Gregory Dwight Crumpton II of Dumfries approached a man mowing grass at a vacant home on Mill Spring Drive. Police say that Crumpton confronted the man about a package being removed from his property before going back to his home and returning with a shotgun.

The man and another witness fled inside the vacant home and called police, say officials.

Police responded to the scene and surrounded Crumpton's home. He was eventually taken into custody.

Police tell us a "sawed off" shotgun was found inside his home.

Crumpton is charged with brandishing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a "sawed off" shotgun.
