Police arrest 2 for child neglect

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) -- Police have arrested two people in connection to child neglect in Maryland, officials said.

Police stopped a Pontiac Solstice on the intersection of E. All Saints St and Ice St. due to failure to stop at the red light. When officials observed the car, they saw that the two-seated car also had a 5-year-old child unsecured on the passenger side floorboard. The car's passenger side air bag can cause a substantial risk to the child who was directly in front of the airbag, officials said.

Tammy Ruth Woodward and the passenger Gretchen Marie Woodward were arrested, police said.
